Winter deep / Winter's Bone, Debra Granik

icy winter scenes

Miguel Cane

Winter deep (aptly entitled to Winter's Bone ) is a production away from the major studios, buccal approach life of desperate people, those who appear to be part of the consumer system conventional capitalist U.S., although in his own way also consumed, including banned substances.

Ree Thus our protagonist is a 17 year old boy, whose mother suffers a mental illness that renders it incapable of performing any activity, plunging his family into abject poverty. Ree, as eldest, should take forward his two younger brothers because his father is in jail. One day they receive a visit from a bailiff reported that they or their father is presented in court on a particular day and just out of prison, or they will remove the house where he lives with his family.

So the young seek all means to find his father, who has broken his parole, and this will give you a few headaches, because there is no more than dead ends, women aloof and surly shown protecting their males. In a field that is operated with codes of conduct themselves with a clan under the leadership of the local mafia, which is who calls the shots. The film, with its modest production values, it is disturbing, shown are inhospitable environments, dispassionate, the people featured seem unable to feel anything, like puppets emptied of entrails. Meanwhile, Ree, is a young beautiful, intelligent, courageous, that transcends its origins and wants his chance, either studying or getting ready in the army, like any other way to escape, to land through, but fate always puts everyone in place and demonstrates that one can not escape their fate.

Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for an Oscar for his performance, which is perfectly understandable as it does a great job, despite his youth, without overacting. clearly transmits all its sorrow and anguish. The staging of Debra Granik is very successful in its cool atmosphere, very controlled, shows some inhospitable places, bathed in raw, in a forested area inhabited by a handful of people who seem to operate under their own rules. A script - based on the novel by Daniel Woodrell - outlines their characters well, which do not need big speeches to get the viewer make this film a film well worth seeing. Winter
